Sample the best of dance, music, theater and more at the Capital One Bank Theater District Open House on Sunday, August 30 from noon - 4 p.m. The annual, free, family-friendly event takes place in the heart of the Theater District at the Alley Theatre, Hobby Center for the Performing Arts, Wortham Theater Center and Jones Hall.

It’s a great way to learn more about the city’s nine major performing arts groups – Alley Theatre; Gexa Energy Broadway Across America - Houston; Da Camera of Houston; Houston Ballet; Houston Symphony; Houston Grand Opera; Society for the Performing Arts; Theatre Under the Stars, and Uniquely Houston.

Activities include backstage tours; live performances by professional and community entertainers; sneak previews of the 2008-2009 seasons; question and answer sessions with performers; fun stuff for the kids such as a Back-Alley Garage Sale and an instrument petting zoo and ticket information booths. The Theater District also will be offering a Taste of Downtown, with dozens of restaurants providing generous samples of their chefs’ best throughout the day.

Don’t miss the Houston Symphony’s free concert (and exciting giveaway) at 4 p.m. in Jones Hall. And to keep the afternoon extra easy, hop a trolley to make your way to each venue.
