If you think your furry, four-legged friend has what it takes to be a champion, why not bring him (or her) down to Discovery Green this weekend for one of the biggest canine events of the year.
DockDogs, which kicks off the morning of Friday, June 26 and runs through Sunday, June 28, is a national competition that consists of pooches jumping into water from a specially constructed dock. Both long and high leaps can earn victory.
Dogs and their owners will be traveling to Houston to compete, but local pets can take part in the fun as well. You can register in advance online or show up any day of the three-day event and register on site. And it doesn’t matter how big or how small your dog is, any breed or size can participate in the competition. It’s a ferociously good time for the whole family.

Summer sizzler
 Slip on something cool and head over to the Alden Hotel on Friday, June 26 for the Houston Single Source’s first big party of the summer. Who’s got talent?
 The Alley Theatre will begin scheduling appointments for their auditions for local actors. The auditions will take place on Monday, July 20 and will be open to both AEA and non-AEA adult actors. To make your appointment, email your contact information on or after Monday, July 6. Actors should prepare one monologue and bring a current headshot and resume.
