Sure it’s summer in Houston but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the great outdoors, along with a big dose of camaraderie, while you get fit without spending a dime.
If you haven’t seen the most exuberant workout in the city, you might want to stop by Discovery Green on your way home from work any Wednesday in June. You’ll find dozens of people of every shape and size moving to the Latin groove of Zumba. If the weekend is easier for you, clear your calendar for Nia every Sunday at 1 p.m.
Or slow down the pace just a bit. Check out Pilates every Tuesday at 6 p.m., Tai Chi on Thursdays at noon and Yoga each Saturday morning. You can even get the kids moving with the Hip 2 B Fit Fun Club on Saturdays at 11:30 a.m.
Of course there are also several outstanding fitness clubs downtown if you prefer that route. Curves, the Houstonian Lite and Larry North Fitness all have programs that can fit your particular needs and schedule.
