ABOUT GETTING AROUND WHAT TO DO LIVING HERE DOING BUSINESS WORKING HERE

From festive mariachi bands to colorful floats, the annual Cinco de Mayo Parade downtown is a great way to commemorate the holiday. The parade is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 2 and begins its route at Texas and Hamilton. For a great view, set yourself up anywhere along the parade course. The procession will head west on Texas, south on La Branch, west on Walker, north on Austin, east on Preston and conclude at Preston and Crawford.

Once the parade has wrapped up, you can still chill downtown and keep the Cinco de Mayo vibe going strong. Grab some lunch at
Cabo on the edge of Market Square or enjoy a tasty dinner and specialty cocktails at Guadalajara del Centro at Houston Pavilions.

You can also make plans to commemorate Cinco de Mayo on its actual date – Tuesday, May 5.
House of Blues gets the party started at 3 p.m. with great drink specials and the festivities will culminate with a concert by AB Quintanilla in the Music Hall. Or sip free Corzo margaritas and Cazadores palomas at The Treehouse at The Grove in Discovery Green. With music by Soular Grooves DJs and $1 chicken tacos we can’t think of a better way to celebrate.
